The Luck of the Peckhamites – The ‘lost episode’ of Only Fools and Horses – written by AI

Title: “The Luck of the Peckhamites”

INT. TROTTERS’ LIVING ROOM – DAY

Del Boy is sitting on the sofa, perusing a newspaper. Rodney is at the table, finishing his breakfast.

DEL BOY
(looking up from the paper)
Rodders, listen to this. There’s an auction in town tomorrow, and they’re selling off some pretty valuable stuff.

RODNEY
(skeptical)
Oh yeah? And what makes you think we’d be able to afford any of it?

DEL BOY
Well, my son, we may not have cash on hand, but we’ve got plenty of charm and a knack for spotting a good deal.

RODNEY
(rolling his eyes)
More like a knack for getting us into trouble.

INT. AUCTION HOUSE – DAY

Del Boy and Rodney are in a crowded auction room, scanning the items up for bid. Del Boy spots a dusty old painting in the corner.

DEL BOY
(whispering)
Rodney, look at that. That’s got to be worth a few quid. We’ll snap it up for cheap and sell it for a profit.

RODNEY
(skeptical)
I don’t know, Del. It looks like a load of old rubbish to me.

DEL BOY
Trust me, Rodders. This is our ticket to the big time.

Del Boy and Rodney bid on the painting, and despite some competition, they manage to win it.

INT. TROTTERS’ LIVING ROOM – DAY

Del Boy and Rodney have brought the painting home and hung it on the wall. They’re admiring their purchase when Grandad enters the room.

GRANDAD
(squinting at the painting)
You paid money for that? It’s hideous!

DEL BOY
Never mind the aesthetics, Grandad. This is an investment.

RODNEY
Del, you don’t even know if it’s worth anything.

DEL BOY
Have faith, Rodney. I’ve got a good feeling about this.

INT. ART APPRAISAL OFFICE – DAY

Del Boy and Rodney have taken the painting to an art appraiser. The appraiser is examining the painting carefully.

ART APPRAISER
Well, gentlemen, I have some good news and some bad news.

DEL BOY
(leaning in)
Give us the good news first.

ART APPRAISER
The good news is that this painting is indeed an original from the 19th century.

RODNEY
(excited)
That’s brilliant! So what’s the bad news?

ART APPRAISER
Unfortunately, the artist is virtually unknown, and the painting isn’t worth much more than you paid for it.

Del Boy and Rodney exchange disappointed looks.

INT. TROTTERS’ LIVING ROOM – DAY

Del Boy and Rodney are back at home, the painting still hanging on the wall. They’re sulking on the sofa.

RODNEY
(face in hands)
We should’ve known better, Del. We never have any luck with these things.

DEL BOY
(trying to stay positive)
Well, Rodders, at least we’ve got a new piece of art for the flat. And who knows, maybe one day it’ll be worth something.

As Del Boy and Rodney continue to lament their failed investment, they remain unaware of the priceless antique hidden beneath the painting’s frame.

FADE OUT.

In the next episode, Del Boy and Rodney come across a mysterious briefcase that leads them on a wild adventure through the streets of London, encountering a colourful cast of characters along the way.
