EXT. ARTHUR’S CAR LOT – DAY
Arthur is chatting animatedly on the phone, clearly excited about a new business opportunity. Terry watches from a distance, looking wary.
ARTHUR
(on the phone)
Yeah, mate, I’ll take the lot. This is gonna be a goldmine! Alright, cheers!
Arthur hangs up and rushes over to Terry, grinning from ear to ear.
ARTHUR
Terry, me old mate, have I got some news for you! We’ve just acquired a shipment of designer shoes. Top-quality stuff, and we got ’em for a steal!
TERRY
(raising an eyebrow)
And what’s the catch, Arthur?
ARTHUR
No catch, Terry, I swear! The only thing is, we need to sell them quickly. The supplier has, erm, connections, if you catch my drift.
TERRY
(sighing)
So we’re dealing with counterfeit goods again, are we? You know this never ends well, Arthur.
ARTHUR
Relax, Terry. We’ll have these shoes sold in no time, and we’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.
INT. ARTHUR’S LOCK-UP – DAY
Arthur and Terry are surrounded by boxes of counterfeit designer shoes. They begin sorting through them, preparing for the big sale.
TERRY
Arthur, these don’t look right. The stitching is all off, and the logos are crooked.
ARTHUR
(waving him off)
Details, Terry, details. No one’s going to notice once they’re on their feet.
EXT. ARTHUR’S CAR LOT – DAY
Arthur and Terry have set up a makeshift shoe stall in the car lot. Customers flock to the stall, eager to snap up a bargain. Business is booming, and Arthur and Terry can barely keep up with the demand.
INT. WINCHESTER CLUB – NIGHT
Arthur and Terry are celebrating their successful day of sales. They’re enjoying a pint when a group of angry customers storms into the club.
ANGRY CUSTOMER
You sold us fake shoes! They fell apart after one wear!
TERRY
(whispering to Arthur)
I told you this would come back to bite us.
ARTHUR
(whispering back)
Don’t worry, Terry. I’ve got a plan.
ARTHUR
(raising his voice)
Ladies and gentlemen, I understand your concerns. However, I assure you that our shoes are of the highest quality. In fact, we’re offering a special one-time deal: bring in your damaged shoes, and we’ll replace them with a brand-new pair, free of charge!
The angry customers grumble but agree to the deal, seeing it as their best option.
EXT. ARTHUR’S CAR LOT – DAY
Arthur and Terry are at the shoe stall, exchanging the damaged shoes for new pairs. As they hand out the replacements, they notice a pair of plainclothes police officers approaching.
PLAINCLOTHES OFFICER
We’ve had reports of counterfeit goods being sold here. Mind if we take a look?
Arthur and Terry exchange panicked glances.
TERRY
(whispering to Arthur)
What do we do now?
ARTHUR
(whispering back)
Follow my lead.
ARTHUR
(smiling at the officers)
Of course, officers! We run a legitimate business here. Please, feel free to inspect our merchandise.
As the officers examine the shoes, Arthur covertly slips a pair of real designer shoes into the mix. The officers find nothing suspicious and leave, satisfied.
ARTHUR
(sighing with relief)
That was too close, Terry.
TERRY
Yeah. Maybe next time you’ll think twice before getting mixed up with counterfeit goods, eh, Arthur?
ARTHUR
(smiling sheepishly)
You’re right, Terry. I promise, no more dodgy dealings.
TERRY
(smirking)
Somehow, I doubt that.
As Arthur and Terry pack up the remaining shoes, they share a knowing smile. They know that their days of wheeling and dealing aren’t over, and there will always be another scheme just around the corner.
