As the two grow closer, Amelia begins to return the favor, talking about her love for “tackle,” which Freddie mistakes as a reference to his manhood when she is actually discussing her love of fishing. The mutual misunderstanding leads to a series of side-splitting situations, including a disastrous double-entendre-laden fishing trip, a lingerie fashion show turned door knocker exhibition, and an outrageous game of charades at a conservative town council meeting.
Meanwhile, their eccentric friends and townsfolk inadvertently fuel the fire. Gossipy neighbor, Gladys, and bawdy fisherman, Captain Salty, become convinced that Freddie and Amelia are involved in a steamy love affair, and they’ll stop at nothing to uncover the “truth.”
As the entire town becomes entangled in this web of misunderstandings, Freddie and Amelia remain blissfully oblivious to their misconstrued conversations. Will they eventually realize their linguistic blunder, or will the people of Waveworth keep up the farce until the whole town is in on the joke?
